For Windows 98 & Windows ME

1. Do a Scan Disk then a Defragmenter once a week if your computer is used much. At least every other week.
2. Update your Virus Protection every week and scan for viruses. New viruses come out every day, if you don’t keep it updated it doesn’t do any good.
3. Update your Ad-Aware every week and do a scan. I run Ad-Aware and CounterSpy (which is a paid version).
4. Always do Scan Disk before Defrag. To do Scan Disk go to Start à Programs à Accessories à System Tools à ScanDisk à Start

• To do a Defrag go to Start à Programs à Accessories à System Tools à Defragmenter à OK

For Windows 2000 & Windows XP

1. Do an Error Check and a Disk Defragmenter every couple weeks if your computer is used much. At least once every month.
2. Update your Virus Protection every week and scan for viruses. New viruses come out every day, if you don’t keep it updated it doesn’t do any good.
3. Update your Ad-Aware every week and do a scan. I run Ad-Aware and CounterSpy (which is a paid version).

• To do Error Checking go to Start à My Computer à Right click your (C:) à Properties à Tools à Check Now à check both boxes à Start à Yes à Restart your computer.

• To do a Defrag go to Start à Programs à Accessories à System Tools à Defragmenter à OK

• To do an Ad-Aware scan double click on the Ad-Aware icon à Start à Next à When scan is finished à Next à Critical Objects tab à Right click on one of the boxes à select All Objects à Next à OK.
